Detox Your Home
I recently read some research which stated that 80% of the toxic fumes or substances people inhale or ingest comes from the home!
Seriously!
Its hard to believe that the place we are meant to feel the safest is the place inadvertantly doing us the most damage.
The toxic substances they were referring to of course is all of the cleaning products we use, the paints, insecticides, carpet and upholstery protecting products, and even gas from our good old stoves.
Layer that on top of any gardening products we use, any car cleaning products, any deodorants, so called antibacterial products, perfumes, cosmetics etc, and we are living in a veritable fog of chemicals.
That's okay if that's how you like it and there is just you at home, but when you have children whom you are responsible for, then the time has come to have a bit of a look around at what you can change, for their sakes!
This chapter is dedicated to the beautiful old fashioned way of cleaning. They used naught but bicarb soda, borax, vinegar, washing soda, soaps and a few other odds and sods, and the homes were clean, fresh, deodorised and sanitised.
Eucalyptus oil is one of my secret weapons too. I use it on everything from the toilets to cuts and scrapes to home made air fresheners. I have listed dozens of uses for things such as Eucalyptus Oil, vinegar, bicarb and vegetable oil in this chapter.
Once you start cleaning using these products, you will never go back (I hope!).
They work, they are cheap, they are environmentally responsible, and they won't make your kids sick. This is an important read.
By the way, this chapter just covers the home. There is another chapter which covers the body, and in my next book I will look at addressing things like the outside of the house, the car and the gardens.
