Diet and Exercise..... are not dirty words!
 
 
 
 
 
Did someone just swear??  For a minute there I honestly thought I had heard some dirty words!!!
 
Of course they didn't, "diet" and "exercise" are not dirty words!
 
I had a lot of fun with this chapter as these two concepts are the mainstay of my existance.
 
Of course, I absolutely love food, and now funnily enough I absolutely love exercise!  I never used to.
 
The chapter starts with an overview of the problem, then goes on to define the literal meaning of "diet" and "exercise", courtesy of the Oxford Dictionary!
 
It's nowhere near as bad as you think it is!
 
We then go on to explain, in layman's terms, why it is that we are so programmed to overeat, and why our bodies are so programmed to store our over-consumption as fat.
 
Then the good bit.
 
I go on to explain how you can simplify things with respect to the food you eat, the way you eat, and how you eat.  Really simple changes like having a healthy breakfast, filling up on fruit and veg so you don't have enough room for other stuff and how to add heaps of flavour to your cooking, without necessarily adding fat, salt and sugar.
 
The other side of the coin of course is "movement".  Note how I use that term instead of that other word???  There are some good ideas as to how to incorporate more of it in your day to day life, if you don't like going to gyms for "movement"!  Of course, if you do like going to gyms, then there are also ideas on how you can make the most of your movement session there too!
 
When you incorporate more activity into your day to day life, it's called "incidental exercise" (sorry, had to use that word) and its the main reason active people stay slimmer, whether they "work out" or not.  You will be surprised, and probably pleased, when you find out all the things that count as calorie burners!
 
Put the two sides of the coin together, and you are on the path to a healthier, fitter, slimmer you.  All without a "diet" or "exercise plan" in sight.
